FACILITIES

The Holt Retirement home exudes great character and refinement standing in beautiful landscaped gardens. The aim of our home is to provide a small family type environment for our residents. That is, we hope to provide the right level of care, companionship, relaxation and comfort for our residents who become a part of our extended family.

Wheelchair users have level access to all rooms and the garden. Residents who are on the 2nd floor have access to their room by lift. Residents can choose from a variety of bedrooms, as we offer both single and double rooms, most have en-suite facilities. All of the bedrooms have been decorated and furnished to a high standard, but we would be willing to redecorate any room with participation from the resident and next of kin if this is what they would like.
Why? Because it is very important to us and the resident that they feel at home, so we encourage them to bring in their own pictures, photographs, and ornaments to make the room their own!

We offer to our residents a choice of menus and we cater for special diets. Menus are presented each day in pictorial style so that our residents can make an informed choice of meal. They can enjoy their meals in the relaxed setting of the dining room or the conservatory with their chosen companion, or in the privacy of their own room. This often is a welcome choice for residents because they might not feel well or want to chat with friends.

The menus are varied and cater for all types of diets.
Meat, fish, vegetables and fruit are sourced locally, and delivered on a daily basis, this ensures that our meals include a variety of fresh healthy items, all first class quality. We even grow some by our own which some residents enjoy looking after.

At breakfast, the menu is wide-ranging and includes fruit juice, toast, and various cereals. Other dishes include porridge, or fruit, and optionally a cooked breakfast.
Lunch is the main meal of the day. If someone does not wish to have a dish on the menu, our cook is pleased to prepare an alternative.

Coffee and biscuits are offered at mid-morning, and tea and home-made cake during the afternoon. If anyone feels "peckish" at any time of day, care staff will provide sandwiches, cake, biscuits or fruit according to the wishes of the resident.

A Nurse Call system will alert our carers who are always in attendance. Each "shift" is managed by a Team Leader, and the different shifts, care plans and medication is managed by the care manager and care coordinator.

Care is personalised to the needs of each resident and delivered by a fully trained team of carers, seven days a week, 24 hours a day. At night time, there are always 2 members of staff on duty and, on site, and there is also staff accommodation for a carer who is available for any unforeseen emergencies.

We also have a variety of activities and social events that are arranged for our residents. To view more activities information read our residential dementia care activities info.
